TYPOLOGY: Rare Life Award Bourbon Box

MATERIAL: Charred White American Oak + Plexi Glass

In 2018 we had the honor of designing and fabricating memorabilia for the recipient of the Rare Life Award.  We knew we wanted to create more than just a box to hold bourbon. 

We wanted to create an experience.  We wanted to tell a story. 

So that’s exactly what we did.

Taking inspiration from Kentucky bourbon barrels, we decided to fabricate the boxes by hand charring white american oak.  The fresh smell and texture of the charred boxes would evoke a sensory experience of being in the rickhouse itself. 

To NOMI, it wasn’t just about creating a box.  It was about creating an experience.
