Client: Bluegrass Community Foundation
The Bluegrass Community Foundation along with the Lexington Public Library enlisted Nomi to assist in the fabrication of prototypes for a $4 Mil. grant application. Our task was to develop test elements as part of an exploration into how the downtown library specifically can more successfully become a place for fun and learning.
We considered several different aspects of active and resting spaces where reading and learning could be coupled with play and action. Our prototypes included a life size pin for board, a pool noodle maze, reading cubes, reading tubes, life size scrabble and an outdoor resting space. Families came on multiple days to experience the spaces and gave their feedback. The process was successful as the BGCF was granted $250,000 to further study this as a permanent solution on a larger scale.
