The Acadia Parish School District in Louisiana initiated a project to transform an existing bus into a mobile STEM workshop designed to travel throughout the district and engage students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The goal was to create a dynamic and visually compelling environment that reflects the energy and innovation of the STEM program while inspiring student interest and participation.
The exterior design of the bus embraces the region’s agricultural heritage and ecological identity. A vibrant graphic concept was developed featuring the rare blue crawfish—an iconic symbol of local aquaculture and its integration with rice farming through crop rotation. This distinctive imagery creates a memorable visual experience and establishes a strong connection to the community’s environment.
Inside, the design prioritizes flexibility, light, and interactivity. Translucent wall cladding allows natural daylight to filter through the bus windows, creating a bright, welcoming atmosphere while softening glare. Large interactive media walls support hands-on learning and digital engagement. Custom-fabricated, mobile workstations are mounted along the walls and equipped with wheels, enabling them to be easily relocated outside the bus to expand instructional space and accommodate various teaching configurations.
Together, the exterior and interior elements create a unique, adaptable learning environment that brings STEM education directly to students while celebrating the cultural and environmental context of Acadia Parish.
Our fabrication process starts with drawings, models, and mockups which transform into the final product.
