The Programming Booklet for Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill outlined the framework for a potential project aimed at improving the kitchen within the Trustees’ Office. The primary goal of the investigation was to assess and validate the programmatic needs for the project, to address the functional, operational, and capacity requirements identified by the Shaker Village committee. The booklet compiles and synthesizes a body of work generated through extensive discussions, analysis, and collaboration over an 11-month period. It represents a series of recommendations and insights for the future direction of the project. Shaker Village provided Nomi Design with an initial programming list, which we carefully vetted, analyzed, and expanded upon. By employing the Problem Seeking Method, we refined this list to identify the space requirements, specific criteria, and considerations needed to create a comprehensive understanding of the project’s scope. The objective was to evaluate the kitchen area within the Trustees’ Office and determine the necessary improvements to address current operational needs, future growth, and program expansion. This process has highlighted the need for a more holistic view of both existing data and long-term goals to generate precise solutions. However, based on the available data, we have offered recommendations to guide the project toward a focused and strategic direction, and we believe Shaker Village will be well-positioned to achieve its objectives while honoring its historic legacy and preparing for future growth.

We like to go above and beyond for our projects, which can include custom book making, marketing materials, and artwork.
